rhinestones

Piece #22 of 100: I’m calling this gorgeous piece deco because of the 3 rows of rhinestones. It is also what gives it a hint of an Egyptian flair. I love this piece (do I say that about each one?) It’s not signed, so I have no idea about its history or age. I found [...]

Piece #21 of 100: Where do I begin? The red tear-drop rhinestones are 18mm tall (in other words: humongous) and the necklace drops four inches from the neckline. This was part of Mom’s cruise and party collection. You can see her wearing them (along with the matching earrings) in 1987 in this cute pix.

Piece #17 of 100: Whenever I come across such a stunning design, I am always disappointed when there is no designer indicated on the piece. These beautiful trinkets are 1 1/4″ across the width of the concentric rhinestones. It’s the silver tone tubes that make this piece deco. Art deco is defined as an art [...]

Angel Wings

June 3, 2010

Piece #16 of 100: Yum! I am going to have to throw a party (or wrangle an invitation) just to come up with an excuse to wear these beauties. There is something so perfect about them. The crystals have lots of sparkle, and the silver tone angel wings and circles just balance perfectly. These shoulder [...]

Christmas Daisies

May 19, 2010

Piece #13 of 100: With red and green sparkly round rhinestones, these earrings just ooze Christmas. With white marquise rhinestones as petals around a red center, the design looks like a daisy gone wild! They are clip-on earrings, and when worn, the small white rhinestone is at the bottom. Being Jewish, I don’t know quite [...]

Enameled Roses and Rhinestones

May 17, 2010

Piece #12 of 100: This sweet brooch reminds me of Mother’s Day. Doesn’t it look like the perfect gift to give to Mom? Except that as an adult, I never gave my mom this kind of jewelry, because she was always asking for “big and funky,” which this enameled Trifari brooch is obviously not. Whenever [...]

Black Enamel and Pave Rhinestones

May 10, 2010

Piece #10 of 100 I like the weight of this bracelet. It’s quite hunky. The bracelet is not signed. My brother thinks it’s a knock off of a famous designer. Anyone know if this pave X design is from a famous designer? Please let me know. I think it might be keeping my brother up [...]

Navy Florentine Brooch

May 2, 2010

Piece #8 of 100: Over the last year, friends and family have inquired about Mom’s health (she’s fine, considering) and what’s new with me? Well, I answer, I’m going to blog about Mom’s jewelry. You mean you are going to sell it? No, I’m not going to sell it, I’m going to write about it. [...]

Rhinestone Dangles

April 25, 2010

Piece #6 of 100 I first wore these beauties on New Year’s Eve, and have managed to find a few other opportunities since then! They are definitely conversation starters. At about 4″ inches long (shoulder dusters) I think of them of one of Mom’s most iconic pieces. They really represented her taste in bling and [...]
