Piece #3 of 100:
I love these earrings! They are my mother’s sparkly style, but they are sized like earrings I gravitate towards (about 2.5″ long). While playing around with them, I discovered that the dangle part actually disengages from the top, so they can be worn either with or without the dangle. This appeals to my “buy one — get two” personality trait, which, of course, I inherited from Mom.
So with all these sparkly pieces, one might think my Mom lead the glamorous life of a party girl. Actually, although she loved dressing up, I don’t think of Mom as party girl. She preferred smaller groups where she could talk to everyone at the table in a single conversation. In fact, my memories of Mom dressing up fall into two distinct categories: first the fifties, and second on cruises, which she enjoyed primarily in the eighties and nineties.

Love the whole website! Killer pave earrings! A very good thing you’re doing for your mom and letting people know what it’s like to have someone you love dearly be ill, but still amazing both now and when all this bling was worn!

You and your mom will be added to my prayer list. Bless both of you for your roles in this life.

Your mom reminds me of my grandmother. I would of loved going through her jewelry box like you are with your mom’s. My grandmother wasn’t a party girl either, but she believed looking like a million dollars everyday. My grandmother died of Alzeimer too. Thanks for taking the time an effort to do this blog. It takes me back to memories of Grandma.

Liked the photo of “glam Mom” and “cruise Mom”. It’s interesting that my most enduring memories of my mother are the “dressed up” ones. Obviously something about seeing her in something different to her usual clothing made the memory stick. I can not remember a single item of her everyday clothing from my first decade (the ’50’s) but I clearly remember all her “going out” outfits.
Always accompanied by a fox fur cape round her shoulders – I still have that cape but I wouldn’t dare wear it nowadays!

Go ahead wear it! Many of us have them hanging in our closests and are hesitant to wear them. I’ll wear mine if you wear yours!
