My mom’s jewelry always brings a huge smile to my face. She had the good luck to have beautiful features (a cross between Elizabeth Taylor and Judy Garland) and the smarts to buy lots of wonderful costume jewelry in the 1950’s. My most favorite piece is a stunning ruby red faceted necklace with three strings of faux pearls. The clasp is ornate, classic, and representative of the attention to detail of that era. I sometimes take it out just to feel the weight of it, run my fingers over the smooth pearls, and watch the deep red lights dance about in the faceted cut glass.
