I Haven’t Parted With It

My mother had lovely antic pieces among her jewelery collections. Among them, one particular pair of earrings would fascinate me as a child. The ear rings were made of rubies and pearls in a closed setting encased in gold. I was so much in awe of them that I would insist on wearing them on all special occasions. Recently, my mom gave them to me and I was thrilled to bits. I am quite a generous person, but I don’t think I will part with them very easily for many years.
