My mom seldom wore jewelry, but when she did it was big bold pieces that made a statement. I remember a snake wrap bracelet and a rather large lion’s head necklace too. My grandmother, on the other hand, had a little girl’s dream come true for a jewelry collection! She had beautiful diamond rings and a big array of costume jewelry in those wonderful wind-up musical jewelry boxes with the ballerina on the inside. She had one pair of earrings that I just loved, and she gave them to me when I was old enough to appreciate them. They are in the shape of a star made of glass, and they are exquisite! It was so much fun to go there and play “dress up” in her fancy gowns and beautiful jewelry. We felt like princesses.
