Excuse me. Did your mother leave her pearl earrings in my mother’s jewelry box? Because I don’t know how these got here. Really. Never saw my mom wearing anything like this. No dangle at all. Ha rrumph!
They’re beautiful though, aren’t they? With a Coco Chanel suit, or maybe one a smart looking knit suit from St. Johns? Yum. Spring is here. I bet she got them at a garage sale. They look very fifties. But they’re not signed so I really have no idea.

This afternoon I found the matching three-strand necklace that matches these earrings, making the set a demi parure (I love that phrase!) Unfortunately, the clasp was missing, and my mom had replaced it with a safety pin. What’s “demi parure” you ask? It is a set of jewelry consisting of two matching pieces (in this case earrings and necklace.) If there were also a brooch, it would be called a parure.
