Piece #12 of 100:
This sweet brooch reminds me of Mother’s Day. Doesn’t it look like the perfect gift to give to Mom? Except that as an adult, I never gave my mom this kind of jewelry, because she was always asking for “big and funky,” which this enameled Trifari brooch is obviously not.
Whenever I stumble upon a piece that is signed (like this one) I try googling it to see if I can find a match (and maybe even a price!) I found a few Trifari white roses, but none exactly like this one. This figural Trifari brooch has two white enameled roses and is adorned with white rhinestones.
Trifari is one of the most prolific costume jewelry manufacturers. They started in 1918 and are still in business today. In her book “Costume Jewelry 101,” Julia Carroll recommends Trifari as one four recommended designers for beginner costume jewelry collectors. The others are Coro, Weiss, and Kramer. I know Mom has Coro pieces in her jewelry box. Now I’ll be on the look out for Weiss and Kramer!
