I just got a delightful flyer in the mail from Chico’s, with a precocious girl on the cover, dripping in beads, with the headline “Why are some women destined to wear Chico’s?” The story goes on to explain that this little girl discovered early on that “she had a knack for making an entrance”, “she was a sucker for sequins” and so on. Then to moves on to the adult model, also dripping in beads and baubles. Quite a wonderful marketing piece.
But then on the back of the flyer, I noticed, “Our jewelry is intended for adult wear only.” Bummer. I guess I’ll just have to wait then. 🙂
P.S. On a serious note, is this really where we’ve arrived? Are we so litigious that costume jewelry needs to come with warning labels? Ouch.
